Suswam categorically described the action of the present
governor of Benue state as “a journey of vendetta and witch hunting,” adding
that he was amazed at the level of persecution being targeted against him.
It would be recalled that Governor Ortom had last week inaugurated
two commissions of inquiry into the receipt and utilization of funds by the
immediate past administration of Suswam. He was, however, quick to point out
that the objectives of the panels were not meant to witch hunt anybody but to
set the records straight.
But Suswan in a statement issued yesterday by his media
aide, Chief Anawah Joseph, said though he was not afraid of multiple panels set
up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government to probe his
administration, the former governor said he was surprised at the level with
which the ruling party considered him as a project for persecution.
“Dr. Suswam has no problem with probes. The multiple probe
panels limited to his administration is however beyond politics, it is vendetta
and witch-hunting,” the statement read in part.
On the speculation that he ran away in order to avoid
probes, the former governor stated that that would amount to cowardice after
being a political leader of the Benue people for many years.
Suswam however called on all supporters of Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, in the state to remain resolute, steadfast and strong in order to
offer a formidable opposition.
