SHEKAU IS ALIVE

Ahmed Salkida, a Dubai-based Nigerian journalist who reportedly maintains communication with some leaders of the Islamist insurgent group Boko Haram, claimed today that the sect’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, is alive and well. Mr. Salkida denied reports asserting that Nigerian troops had killed the mercurial and fiendish Shekau, the speaker and voice in numerous videos released by Boko Haram.
Ahmed Salkida, journalist In a tweet earlier today, Mr. Salkida also dismissed media reports that the Nigerian government was negotiating with Boko Haram for the release of more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped in mid-April by Boko Haram militants in Chibok, Borno State. The reporter’s tweet also described as untrue reports that the International Red Cross (IRC) was working on a deal that would persuade Boko Haram to free the abducted Chibok schoolgirls in exchange for the release of detained Islamist insurgents in the custody of Nigerian security agencies.
Earlier today, SaharaReporters had published a report to the effect that a Nigerian intelligence source revealed that the person whose dead body is seen in photos circulating in news reports was not Shekau but one “Mohammed Bashir”.
Our intelligence source stated that the dead Islamist figure, who bore a striking semblance to Mr. Shekau, was indeed a look-alike who appeared in videos released by the Islamist sect.
Mr. Salkida’s tweet appeared to confirm that the Boko Haram “officer” killed by Nigerian soldiers in Konduga was a different person from Mr. Shekau. In fact, Nigerian security officials have maintained for months that Mr. Shekau was dead, apparently killed by his own disaffected lieutenants in an internal rivalry for control of the terrorist organization.
However, Salkida sent out another tweet today which appeared to cast doubt on the fact that Shekau indeed had a double.
A confidential debriefing document by the Nigerian army obtained last week by SaharaReporters also acknowledged that Mr. Shekau stayed permanently in his holdout in Sambisa Forest and was not in the habit of venturing out to battles. Item “R” of the document stated, ”Shekau has his wife and 2 children in Sambisa Forest. He is Kanuri, he speaks Hausa and he does not travel.”
Meanwhile, a Nigerian security source told SaharaReporters that there was evidence of a growing frustration among insurgent fighters and a simmering power struggle between some of the sect’s top figures. He disclosed that some of the insurgents who surrendered to Nigerian troops last week in Konduga have told army interrogators that they decided to give up after their commander executed two of their leaders who led the failed attack on Konduga. The source told SaharaReporters that the insurgents, who are being kept in one of the barracks in Maiduguri, told interrogators that they fled from a camp near Bama after their commander shot dead two insurgent field officers “for losing valuable weapons to infidels.” He added that the surrendering militants claimed they were reluctant and small-time fighters who were recently recruited from towns and villagers taken by Boko Haram.
The insurgents’ foiled attempt to seize Konduga, which was a first step in their plan to attack the Borno State capital, Maiduguri, is being seen as a possible turning point in the war between the insurgents and increasingly confident Nigerian soldiers. Nigerian troops killed hundreds of insurgents in the battle for Konduga and also seized an armored tank and several vehicles from the Boko Haram fighters. Incidentally, Boko Haram insurgents had originally captured thetank and vehicles from the Nigerian army in previous battles.
For close to two weeks, the insurgents have not been able to reproduce their earlier streak of victories over Nigerian troops. Instead, they have been routed in Konduga and driven out of Baza in Adamawa State

FINALLY THE PRESIDENT DECLEARS HIS ASSETS

Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) show that at the time he was sworn in on May 29, President Buhari had less than N30 million to his name, a statement by the presidency said on Thursday. President Muhammadu Buhari in his farm
The documents, which officials say they are still vetting and will soon make public, show Buhari had only one bank account, with Union Bank. He had no foreign account, no factory, no enterprises, no registered company and no oil wells.
The statement appears to have been prepared because of the impatience of the president in waiting for the CCB to undertake its tedious verification process.
According to the text, President Buhari declared he had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank.
The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics, declared about N94 million and 900,000 United States dollars in his bank accounts.
Said a source who examined the documents, about Buhari, “This is entirely unlike what one might expect from a former head of state of a country like Nigeria.”
The retired General had been Head of State of Nigeria.  He had also held various government positions such as governor, Minister of Petroleum, and head of the Petroleum Development Trust Fund (PTDF).
The documents also revealed that President Buhari had a total of five homes, including two mud houses in Daura.  Two of those properties are in Kaduna, and one each in Kano, Daura and Abuja.  One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father.  He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.
President Buhari also declared two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt, the location of which he is still trying to identify.  It is unclear how that conundrum arose.
President Buhari also owns farms, an orchard and a ranch. His farm holdings include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees.
The documents also showed that the retired General owns a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings.  The others were supplied to him by the federal government in his capacity as a former Head of State as provided by law.  The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his jeep was damaged in the Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.
Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s assets declaration includes his 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos, and a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi. The Vice President also owns a 2-bedroom flat at the popular Redemption Camp off the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and a 2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England. The Vice President has no other landed properties on the form.
Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the Vice-President also declared shareholding in six private companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd. and MTN Nigeria.
According to details shown on the form, the Vice-President has about 94m Naira, $900,000 US dollars and 19 thousand pounds in Nigerian Banks with the foreign currencies kept in local domiciliary accounts. His personal vehicles are: one Infinity 4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.
“As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves,” the source said.

7. James the Son of Zebedee,
was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was ultimately beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer Walked beside James to the place of execution. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Pass on to encourage other Christians.

RUMOUR

Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims AC Milan were “a bit desperate” to sign him but the Paris Saint-Germain striker admits there was no offer on the table from Arsenal.

Rumours had suggested that the French champions were willing to sell the 33-year-old this summer, with Arsenal, AC Milan, Manchester United and Inter all linked with moves.

But when asked about AC Milan’s interest during a press conference with the Swedish national side, Ibrahimovic replied: “It was concrete from their side.

“A lot of interest but I said from the beginning that I will stay with PSG. I like it, we have a good team, my family feel good and it's just positive with Paris and PSG. But they wanted, they wanted much.”

When pressed about Arsenal’s reported interest, the forward replied: “No, so the interest that existed, I have not committed myself to.

“It is Mino [Raiola] who takes care of the pieces. When I give notice that I want something to happen I get involved. But this summer I have been resting up, I enjoyed the holiday, but I know that Milan were a bit desperate.”

DI MARIA SHOWS UNITED WHAT THEY ARE MISSING

The Urguayan's double salvo may catch the headlines, but it was the Argentine's performance off the bench that really caught the eye as PSG defeated Monaco 3-0

GOAL  By Robin Bairner

It may have only been a 25-minute cameo, but Angel Di Maria's debut for Paris Saint-Germain was a formidable sight that suggests he will be capable of lifting his new club to previous unattained levels.

The Argentine came off the bench for the Ligue 1 champions and provided a glimpse of why they were so eager to prise him from Manchester United for €63 million as they thumped Monaco 3-0 away from home. It was a real tour de force, and set a new club record for successive competitive wins for the guests.

Edinson Cavani may have departed Stade Louis II with a couple of goals – his first in Ligue 1 this season – but the contribution of the 27-year-old was the cause of just as much excitement.

When the Uruguayan arrived in France for a fee of around €65 million from Napoli in 2012, his signing was greeted with terrific fanfare - it was, and remains, the biggest Ligue 1 has seen. Though his scoring rate has remained formidable, throughout his time in the French capital, he has never threatened to assume the club's offensive mantle from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Indeed, it is ironic that, as Cavani was pushed into a supposedly unfavoured wide role as the Swede returned, he was finally able to find the target this term. And Ibra played a big hand in both the Uruguayan's strikes, setting up Blaise Matuidi to cross for the first and feeding his strike colleague directly for the second.

Although Cavani actually outscored Ibrahimovic last term, there remain concerns that he misses too many simple chances.

If PSG are to conquer Europe, do they need him? Probably not. Unlike figures such as Ibrahimovic, Blaise Matuidi and Thiago Silva, he is an expendable commodity.

His failure to find the net from a straightforward position most notably cost PSG in the Champions League quarter-final of 2014 against Chelsea, and Di Maria has already said that his major goal for the campaign is to help the Parisians overcome a European hurdle they have fallen at in each of the last three seasons.

In Cavani, Laurent Blanc has at his disposal a high-quality striker, but in Di Maria he has a gem of true world-class ability.

Though discarded by Manchester United after a year, Di Maria's pedigree is unquestioned. That he played a pivotal role in Real Madrid's Decima success has not been forgotten and it is that kind of European knowhow that PSG have craved.

Loading...
They might be a team bristling with offensive quality, but their newest attacking addition is the only one who knows the feeling of lifting the Champions League trophy.

It did not take the Argentine long to shine in Monaco. With his first touch he set up Cavani for a headed opportunity that he really should have been buried, but he continued to probe the home rearguard with deft passes. His assist for Ezequiel Lavezzi to round off the scoring – a clipped ball through the defence from some 40 metres – was a piece of skill of the highest quality.

The irony is, of course, that United believe that Cavani could be the figure to solve problems that Di Maria could not. No doubt he is a player that would improve the playing staff at Old Trafford - or Arsenal, where he has also been linked - yet he is not a player that would elevate either club to the status of Champions League, or even Premier League, winners. Such sides much search for greater reliability.

Di Maria, on the other hand, has already shown his mettle on the greatest stage, and his bow for PSG suggests he feels he still has something to prove. That can only be good news for the Parisians, who might have won their opening four Ligue 1 matches, but whose eyes are fixed primarily on European progress.

HAZARDS CONFESSION

The Chelsea forward accepts that he does not have the predatory instinct to push and push for as many goals as possible, admitting that he tends to ease off when the job is done
Chelsea forward Eden Hazard admits that he "will never be a true scorer" as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are.

Having been crowned Player of the Year after driving the Blues to the Premier League title last term, the Belgian has been talked up as having the potential to rival the Barcelona and Real Madrid stars.

With 19 goals to his name in all competitions last season, manager Jose Mourinho and team-mate Cesc Fabreas were among those to hail Hazard's potential.

However, the 24-year-old says that he is not convinced of rivalling Ronaldo or Messi – who have been crowned the world's best player five times between them – in terms of goals.

"I often ask myself what I can do to become like Messi and Ronaldo and score 50 or 60 goals in a season," Hazard told Sport/Foot Magazine.

"I try of course but I realise that I will never be a true scorer. It's not in me. It is mainly mental - at 2-0, not thinking that is enough, for example. Sometimes I still think, after a goal, 'that's enough'.

"I'm not in search of records like some other players... if I can score between 15 and 20 goals each season, I will be very happy.

"I'm at a peak of my career but I want to become even better every day. I'm not there yet."

Hazard has endured a sluggish start to the season and is yet to score from four Premier League outings, with Chelsea surprisingly languishing in 13th.

Prince Aderibigbe, who spoke at the meeting of the ruling house held at Agbedegbede Lane, More, Ife, also assured that Giesi will present a credible candidate that would be acceptable to all to the kingmakers.
The former university don, who was flanked by members of the committee and sub-committee saddled with the responsibility of verifying names submitted as contestants from Giesi, said he had been repeatedly threatened because he insisted that those who are not from the ruling house but now parading themselves as one, would be disappointed because they would not even be considered.
“A man has been parading himself as a member of Giesi Ruling House and newsmen have been echoing it. He is not a member of this house. He is not a member of Giesi.
“Please quote me. I have been threatened over my stand but I am ready for whatever will happen. I am one of the oldest in this compound and we know ourselves. He is not even a member of any ruling house in Ile-Ife. I have been threatened but I am waiting. I will not say God is on my side but I am on God’s side.’’
He also disowned list of contestants said to have been screened by the ruling house, stressing that only the secretary of the ruling house, Prince Ropo Ogunwusi, is empowered to relate with newsmen on the activities of the ruling house.
Asked if he feared government interference might come in during the selection process, Aderibigbe, said: “We harbour no such fear. We have started the process and we know an Ooni that will be acceptable will emerge at the end of the day.
“Interference of any kind will not happen. Whenever we want to pick our candidate, all of you will know and the kingmakers will after that take over. I did not say Ifa oracle will not have a say but Ifa will only choose from the candidates presented to it and Giesi will present a credible person that will occupy the throne.”

ASUP ASK BUHARI TO PROBE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR

asup The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has urged the President to probe the funding of the education sector at all levels, stating that corruption, misappropriation and embezzlement of funds have been the major issue militating against the growth of the sector.
Speaking at an event organized by the Nekede Polytechnic Chapter of ASUP in Owerri, Imo State Capital, the National President of the Union, Comrade Chibuzor Asomuga, said the union totally supports the present crusade of federal government’s war against corruption.
Comrade Asomuga urged President Buhari to pay more attention to the education sector.
He added that the government needs to do a reappraisal of funding of institutions at every level and track how the funds have been utilized.
Also speaking on the agreement between ASUP and the Federal Government, Mr Asomuga said the former administration failed in achieving any of their  agreement, after many promises that made them call off the over 12 months strike in all the polytechnics last year.
He however urged the present government of President Buhari to be more sensitive to the agitations and plights of the union.

AMAECHI

Court okays probe of Amaechi’s administration

*dismisses his suit challenging the constitution of Judicial Commission of inquiry by Governor Wike
Justice Simeon Amadi of the Rivers State High Court has dismissed the suit filed by former Rivers State Governor,  Rotimi Amaechi challenging the constitution of the Justice Odedeji – led Judicial Commission of Inquiry by Governor Nyesom Wike to probe the sale of state Assets by the immediate past administration.
Delivering judgment on Suit Number PHC/187/15 filed by Former Governor Amaechi on Thursday, Justice Amadi declared that the Judicial Commission of Inquiry was not established to investigate the personal activities of the former governor, but set up to investigate previous actions of government as they affect the people of Rivers State.
He ruled that Governor Nyesom Wike by the provisions of the law is empowered to establish the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate previous actions of government.
According to him,  there is no law preventing a state government from finding out how her resources were expended.
He declared that former Governor Rotimi Amaechi cannot disburse and expend funds of the Rivers State Government and turn around to claim that such powers belong to the National Assembly.
On the claim by former Governor Amaechi that the 30 – day set aside for the sitting of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry will deny him fair hearing,  the court held the days set aside has not breached Amaechi’s right to fair hearing.
The court noted that the former governor has not filed a Memorandum before the Commission and has not appeared before it, hence he cannot complain that he was not given fair hearing.
Justice Amadi said that the 30 – days set aside is not sacrosanct,  hence it could be extended.
The court further held that the suit by Former Governor Amaechi is speculative as he failed to prove the injuries that he has suffered because of the setting up of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry.
Justice Amadi held that contrary to Amaechi’s claims, the terms of reference of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry did not accuse the former governor of crime, neither is the former governor on trial.
Justice Amadi declared: “The Judiciary is not only the last hope of the common man, but it is also the last hope of the mighty and movers and shakers of democracy.
“Those who by the benevolence of the Judiciary got to power should resist the temptation to emasculate the Judiciary”.
Commenting on the judgment,  Rivers State Attorney General,  Emmanuel Aguma said the commission of inquiry can now sit, pointing out that it will be fair to all parties.
Counsel to Governor Nyesom Wike said that the ruling of the court has proved that a claimant cannot jump to court to stop the legitimate business of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry.
In her remarks,  Counsel  to Rotimi Amaechi, Former Governor of Rivers State, Mrs Winifred Enyinnaya said that Amaechi will appeal against the judgment.
It will be recalled that Governor Nyesom Wike upon assumption of duty ser up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the sale of key state Assets by the previous administration.  Former Governor Amaechi approached the court to stop the inquiry.

ABAH MORRO WARNS BUHARI

Alhaji Abubakar Tsav
Former Lagos state police boss, Abubakar Tsav and immediate past Minister of Interior, Abba Moro have warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to  interfere in the ongoing litigations in courts and tribunals across the country, arising from the last general elections as it may cast aspersions on him.
They cautioned that any attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to influence proceedings at the tribunals would heat up the polity, casts aspersions on the president, as well as ridicule the country before the international community.
Abba-Moro-the-trent
They noted that the development would also question the integrity of the anti corruption stance of the President Buhari.
They made the statements from the perception that the President may be inclined to favour members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) above members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties at the tribunals.
The two were also reacting to recent reports that Buhari had set up a 10 man committee, to help salvage the electoral fortunes of APC members, where their elections may be threatened.
Tsav said, “If the President wants to maintain his hard earned reputation, good name and high integrity, he should not interfere in what is happening at the Benue and other tribunals but rather allow justice to take its course in the interest of our growing democracy.”
He was also of the view that, “Our people can only learn if justice is allowed to take its course; Muhammadu Buhari is the President of Nigeria and not that of the APC and must therefore remain neutral and impartial.”
According to Moro, “There is this fear, really, that Mr. President was likely going to use his position and good office to persuade the tribunal to give judgement in favour of Governor Samuel Ortom in Benue state and in other parts of the country.”
“That will be very, very unfortunate for obvious reasons; the President has come out very openly to say that he is going to be the President of all Nigerians and that he would fight corruption headlong, and all of us believe in him because of his antecedents.”
“I think it would be wise as a patriotic Nigerian to advise Mr. President not to go all the way to in influence the activities of the tribunals, not just in Benue but across the country, because to do so would send a wrong signal to the world as to his preparedness to fight corruption.”
He further stated that such a move would be a draw back on the nation’s fledging democracy and democratic process “where justice cannot be obtained, when obvious acts of undemocratic practices characterize even the nomination of candidates to run elections.

I AM NOT AFRAID OF THE MULTIPLE PANEL-----SUSWAN

The immediate past governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswan yesterday declared that he was not afraid of the multiple panels set up by his successor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, to probe his administration.

Suswam categorically described the action of the present governor of Benue state as “a journey of vendetta and witch hunting,” adding that he was amazed at the level of persecution being targeted against him.
It would be recalled that Governor Ortom had last week inaugurated two commissions of inquiry into the receipt and utilization of funds by the immediate past administration of Suswam. He was, however, quick to point out that the objectives of the panels were not meant to witch hunt anybody but to set the records straight.
But Suswan in a statement issued yesterday by his media aide, Chief Anawah Joseph, said though he was not afraid of multiple panels set up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government to probe his administration, the former governor said he was surprised at the level with which the ruling party considered him as a project for persecution.
“Dr. Suswam has no problem with probes. The multiple probe panels limited to his administration is however beyond politics, it is vendetta and witch-hunting,” the statement read in part.
On the speculation that he ran away in order to avoid probes, the former governor stated that that would amount to cowardice after being a political leader of the Benue people for many years.
Suswam however called on all supporters of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state to remain resolute, steadfast and strong in order to offer a formidable opposition.

MIKEL SNUBBED ME IN LONDON

Super Eagles Chief Coach, Sunday Oliseh yesterday explained why he left out Chelsea of England midfielder, John Mikel Obi from his list of players invited for the forthcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Tanzania. Oliseh who revealed this at a media parley in Abuja said he made several phone calls  including text messages to Obi’s number but he never responded to any.
File: Sunday Oliseh
The former international who reluctantly spoke about the issue of Obi revealed that he has no bias against anybody adding that under him, the national team will not favour or malign any Nigerian player.
“Well this issue is an enigma and we have been trying to understand it but I am in the dark personally, and with my assistants we spent time about 11 days in and around Europe talking to players, watching games. We contacted each of the players, call them up, call the clubs and eventually met with the players.
“I went to England on a Thursday and Chelsea was just coming back, we had fixed our visit to coincide with the end of their tour before they played Arsenal. I contacted Obi Mikel, called him on phone four times, the phone kept on ringing nobody picked it up, I sent him an SMS and got no response. But I called Victor Moses the phone rang three times and he picked it up and I spoke with him, told him to concentrate on his game.

After the game he came to my hotel and we met and I told him my plans for the national team. I left to Liverpool to meet the other player and I spent about six hours to go there and back but there was no response from Mikel until I returned here.
I think it was yesterday (Wednesday) that I saw a missed call, so at the moment I don’t know what the situation is. For me everybody is the same and will be treated the same.”
He also gave words of encouragement to the home based players by stating that any of them that proves his worth will be given the opportunity to play, if they were better than their foreign based compatriots.

why i joined chelsea-pedro

Former Barcelona star, Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma, has declared that he joined Chelsea FC to win  titles.
Chelsea on Thursday announced the signing of Pedro from Barcelona.
The Spaniard arrives as a highly coveted winger who can also play as a central striker. He is proven at the very highest level and already possesses an impressive medal haul.
The 28-year-old has accumulated three Champions Leagues and five La Liga titles, as well as being a world and European champion on the international stage.
Pedro and Fabregas
He said: ‘I am very happy to be here. I am very excited to start my adventure at Chelsea and I am here to keep winning titles.
‘Thanks to the club and the supporters for giving me the opportunity to put the blue shirt on,’ he told Chelsea official website
Born in Tenerife, the diminutive Pedro, whose full name is Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma, signed for BarÏ‚a’s academy in 2004 and made his first-team debut in January 2008 after catching the eye for their B team.
By 2009/10, the two-footed, fast and direct winger had become an important part of the Barcelona team. He was the first player ever to score in the Spanish league, Copa del Rey, Champions League, both the European and Spanish Super Cups as well as the World Club Cup.
His brilliant performances at club level saw him secure a place in the Spain squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Pedro started both the semi-final and final, and was a key figure in their victory over the Netherlands.
A year later he scored the opening goal in the Champions League final at Wembley as Barςa beat Manchester United 3-1.
He was a substitute alongside then Chelsea players Fernando Torres and Juan Mata in Spain’s Euro 2012 victory over Italy. The winger was also part of the squad which travelled to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.
Pedro came on as a late substitute in Barcelona’s most recent major success – May’s Champions League final win over Juventus in Berlin. He concluded his time at the Catalan club in the most memorable manner, scoring the winning goal in their 5-4 UEFA Super Cup triumph over Sevilla.

AMAECHI'S LOOTS

B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G News!!!
Bancorp Bank in the United States Writes to Buhari : Plans to Return Amaechi's loot.
Former Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has written to Bancorp Bank in Minnesota in the United States that the alleged $757 million Dollars domiciled in an account in his name; was authorized by him in error; from a Rivers State Government Account with Access Bank Plc. The Nigerian most corrupt governor according to CNN letter reveals that a similar letter was also written to a bank in Switzerland; stating that a similar authorization was made in error.
The letter stated that the said transfers to both banks were for the purchase of security Helicopters, payments to a foreign company to combat malaria in Rivers state by using helicopters to spray mosquito insecticides, and for the purchase of an official residence for Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in America.
The letter further explains that, the payments for the security helicopters, and mosquito insecticides to fight malaria were made through other sources, after the funds had already been transferred abroad. He reminded the bank that the Rivers state law on his severance package, provides for an official residence for a former governor; of which he chose to have his residence in America.
Amaechi said that, this law was later amended to have his official residence built in Nigeria, after the funds had already been transferred to Bancorp/Minnesota Account. Mr. Amaechi said these changes were the reasons he communicated the consultants for purchase of security helicopters, his official residence in the U.S and the Insecticide companies not to access the funds; since they have been paid through other sources.
On receipt of the governor's letter by the Bancorp Bank, the bank has written to the Federal Government of Nigeria to repatriate the said funds to Rivers State treasury. Investigations further revealed that President Buhari is not disposed to this request to repatriate the said funds without a trial of the former governor; to ascertain the governor's alleged errors in these transactions.
" Why would it take Christiane Amanpour of CNN, to remind Amaechi of such errors of over N80 billion Naira public funds in two different countries, and why in his name ?" Queried the Presidency.
Recall that Christiane Amanpour accused the former governor of Rivers State; Mr. Rotimi Amaechi of stacking the sum of $757 million dollars (N80 billion Naira) in Bancorp Bank in Minnesota in the United State.

ENENCHE'S VIEW ON GEJ'S PROBE BY BUHARI'S GOVT

IF MR PRESIDENT MUST PROBE.
One major truth that Mr President must not toy with in handling Gej is the fact that Gej made his comeback to Aso Rock possible.
It was Gej's leadership lapses that gave Mr President the ray of hope.
Nigerians were fed up with Gej, and I strongly believe that Mr President should handle Gej with caution.
If not for Gej's stubbornness to contest in 2011, Nigeria would have been snatched by IBB boys today.
Even when Gej entered, he had to enter alliance with IBB network to support him and in return, handover power to them 2019.
This is the alliance that gave the like of Senator Mark the hope of contesting 2019 presidency.
To solidify my claims, look at the following appointments in Gej's government:
DANSUKI as NSA was IBB's ADC.
ABBAH as IG of police was Maryam Babagida 's ADC.
Gusau as Minister of Defence, was IBB Chief of Army Staff when he IBB was stepping aside from power.
Mr President should know that the battle for 2015 was a battle between him and IBB, Gej was just in the cross fire.
He should embark on massive dismantling of IBB structures, the structures, though appear dormant but they are very potent and can still bounce back.
If Nigeria must probe, let the probe also extend to OBJ, Yar'dua, Abdusalam and IBB govts too.
When Yar'dua was sick, we are aware of the fact that several financial recklessness happened.
Mr President should know that Gej's failures made his comeback to power very possible.
God may have used the weakness of Gej to make Buhari comeback a reality.
I still believe President Buhari is the right man with the right heart to fix Nigeria. But he must be careful not to pull down the same stool (Gej's failure) that made his comeback a reality.
If you must probe, probe all the previous governments. But I don't see that happening.
Mr President, please sir block all the leakages, collect the stolen money you can and strengthen our institutions to work better. That is all Nigeria needs.
You can never wipe corruption from any government.
Even as perfect as Jesus' (My Redeemer) government with 12 cabinet members, as powerful and pure as Jesus (My Redeemer) is, one of his cabinet ministers was corrupt.
Mr President, trade with caution, IBB boys are everywhere, they may appear weak now, but they are very potent... May God grant you the grace and wisdom to navigate through.
Leave Gej alone, and if you would not leave Gej, please also include OBJ, Yar'dua, Abdusalam and IBB, in your probe bonanza.
I rest my case!

ENENCHE THE COMEDIAN WROTE

MARK VS ONJEH, WHAT I SEE AFTER JUDGEMENT
... "Prophet" Enenche Enenche
In December, 2010 when I stormed home for Xmas, what welcomed me to Otukpo, the headquarters of my ancestral home was the postal of a young man with the caption; DAYBREAK!
That day, I looked at the postals with pride, I saw someone from my generation rising up to make a statement even though his opponent was going to fall my comedy in matter of hours. I was in Otukpo for the wedding reception of Senator Mark’s younger brother.
I remembered making the Distinguished Senator to laugh even to the point of falling off his chair.
While all these were going on, the burden of my people at Otukpo/Otukpa road was burning within me. At this time, I have heard about the mess on the road, but I didn’t go beyond to see it as I had to return to Makurdi the next day, albeit, I came in contact with it few weeks later on the 2nd of Jan.,2011.
One thing that kept fascinating my imagination was the postal; DAYBREAK and the young man of my own generation who was the one leading the campaign.
Prior to 2011 elections, he was pressured by his party, ACN to step down, and he did. The dream of a young man never saw the daybreak of 2011 elections at the senate, but for house of reps, which he eventually lost in a controversial “180 days” gymnastics.
In 2015, the dream of this young and fearless man to see a “DAYBREAK” inspired him to lead a people to a poll.
Now, the fate of the dream of that “DAYBREAK” is hanging on the gavel of the Election Petitions Tribunal, handling Benue South Senatorial districts elections sitting in Makurdi.
The following are my prophecies of what I see after the judgement.
SENATOR DAVID A. B. MARK.
He has more at stake here, this is his 5th term, being the “last man standing” of PDP and IBB structure, the sail may not be easy.
No state power at his disposal, the 2019 presidential dream is now in shambles following PDP defeat.
He has every right to panic, with the role he played to see a deputy senate president go to his ally, APC eyes are on the case now.
Judges are more fearless these days and manipulation is not an attractive venture in the Judiciary again, so the “Tiger Wood” of Idoma Kingdom has been scrippled politically.
APC now rule his state, local governments now in the hands of APC, a man that once suffered his political mischief is now the Deputy Governor.
Inability to close defence at the Tribunal, all his witnesses were discredited at cross examination at the dock, and him being a witness on oath not entering the dock to be cross examined, and the Tribunal now relying solely on Onjeh’s defence, this is a great set back for him.
With card readers dictating frauds already, if all or part of the election is cancelled, I don’t see Sen David Mark having the morale and moral credentials to stand before his people for a rerun... Not when his Apa State story is no longer sellable.
He can’t go to O’chidoma’s palace to seek for blessings because the famous O'chidoma road that leads to the palace is in ruins.
All his political enemies would now see the Tribunal in Benue as a fertile venture to invest their money in.
I see him pulling out to save his head and manage his dwindling image.
To consolidate the remnants of power back home, I see him shopping for a PDP candidate with strong grassroots support to replace him and I see that in Comrade Abba Morro.
This is the only way PDP may give APC headache, if at all the election is cancelled.
When this happens, expect campaigns like this;
“Idomas vote Abba Morro, if you don’t want to be slaves in the hands of Akume”.
“Idomas stay with PDP, so that Tivs don’t dominate you.”
Expect these kinds of sentiments. PDP may want Abba there and hoping that Ortom’s camp may split before 2019 and form alliance to snatch Government House in 2019.
COMRADE DAN ONJEH.
This young man is intelligent and fearless, he is not rich financially but rich in leadership.
He has not had opportunity to loot, men and women of goodwill finance his campaigns.
Oh Daniel, don’t rejoice yet, those who substituted your name in 2011 are still alive.
They are watching, and every change agent must watch. Please watch your back.
I pray that the Arch Bishop of Judges Quarters and the new Landlord of Benue State political powerhouse, does not trade you off again.
Oh Comrade Daniel Onjeh, I pray your DAY BREAKS this time around.
I rest my case!

david mark refused to enter the witness box

former Senate President, David Mark finally appeared in court in person to defend his fifth term victory against his opponent, Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress.
However, the embattled senator refused to testify from the witness box.
Mark was dragged to the tribunal by his only contender, Onjeh over his declaration by INEC as the winner of the Benue South Senatorial election.Onjeh had argued that the elections were marred by several irregularities and substantial breaches of the Electoral Act 2011 as amended.
He also averred that INEC officials were compromised and voters were financially induced by the PDP agents at the various polling units in the district.
The petitioner, therefore, urged the court to nullify the election and order for fresh poll.
Mark’s Counsel, Mr Kenneth Ikonne, had told the tribunal that his client would be appearing in person to testify today.
However, Mark who arrived in court in company of some loyalists on Thursday refused to enter the witness box to defend his victory.
More to come…

CHELSEA CAMPAIGNS AGAINST SEXISM IN FOOTBALL

Chelsea have called for an end to sexism in football after footage emerged of fans directing abuse at their club doctor Eva Carneiro.
Recordings of fans at Manchester United and Manchester City chanting and shouting obscenities at Carneiro were broadcast by the BBC on Thursday night, leading to an unequivocal statement from the Blues.
A spokesman for the club told the Guardian: 'The issue of equality is one we take extremely seriously and we abhor discrimination in all its forms, including sexism. Such behaviour is unacceptable and we want it eradicated from the game.

Campaign group; Women in Football is launching an anti-sexism social media drive on Friday and has also contacted all 92 Premier League and Football League clubs asking them to champion female members of staff in their matchday programmes ahead of International Women's Day on March 8.
Minister for Sport Helen Grant is supporting the initiative.
She said: 'It is absolutely right that we champion and celebrate women who work in the football industry and play vital roles in making the game the success that it is.
